Something Borrowed ~ Something Blue….

Something Borrowed ~ Something Blue

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, June is still the most popular month to marry.  The goddess Juno was the protector of women in all aspects of life, but especially in marriage, so wedding in Juno’s month was considered most auspicious.  There is also the fact that the weather is generally beautiful and cooperative as well as the many flowers that are in bloom in June.  Another consideration is that during medieval times a person’s annual bath usually occurred in May or June so June brides still smelled relatively fresh.

Why are we talking about June weddings?  Well, I’ll tell you.  The June meeting of Gardening Partners will have a June Wedding theme for our add-a-dish meal.  So, get out your cookbooks and choose your favorite wedding or shower dishes.  Forage through your gardens for fresh flowers – we can’t have a wedding dinner without bouquets!

And please, go ahead and schedule that bath early on Tuesday.
